We assist all City departments in determining staff needs and coordinate recruitment to fill those needs. Recruitment efforts include working closely with the Directors of each department within the City to post and advertise open positions; processing and reviewing applications; scheduling and conducting interviews; tracking the process of all applicants and providing information on the progress to interested parties. Once interviews have been completed and a selection is made, Human Resources processes the candidate into City employment. This process may include pre-employment drug screening, a background check to verify information included on the employment application, and fingerprinting for a criminal background check. The City recruits the most qualified persons for employment for the citizens it serves. Recruitment and selection is conducted in a manner intended to ensure fair and open competition, provide equal employment opportunity, and prohibit unlawful discrimination or favoritism based on protected class status.

Recognizing the future growth of the City, HR will work as a strategic partner with management by proactively recruiting, retaining, and motivating high performance employees to enhance organizational effectiveness in meeting City objectives and demands. To meet increased growth and challenges, HR will implement strategic programs of recruitment, performance management, management development, employee orientation and create new HR tracking systems. HR will use new technologies to achieve greater efficiencies, streamline processes, enhance policy effectiveness, and improve City compliance with labor law and compensation strategies.
