Electronic resources provide unprecedented opportunities to expand the scope of information available to patrons. The Library provides materials and information representing all points of view. This pertains to electronic resources no less than it does to the more traditional sources of information in the library.

The McCall Public Library provides access to recorded expression and information regardless of the formats or technologies in accordance with our collection development policy. Electronic information, services and networks provided directly or indirectly by the McCall Public Library will be readily, equally, and equitably accessible at no charge to all library users.

Users’ rights to privacy include the right of confidentiality involving the electronic resources and services provided by the McCall Public Library.

The McCall Public Library will not deny or limit access to information available via electronic resources because of its alleged controversial content or frivolous value. Information retrieved or utilized electronically should be considered constitutionally protected unless determined otherwise by a court with appropriate jurisdiction. Parents must be responsible for providing guidance to their own children, it is not the role of the library staff to do so.

Children who use the Internet unsupervised may be exposed to inappropriate or disturbing information and images. Parents are encouraged to discuss the use of the Internet with their children in relation to family values and boundaries, and to monitor their children’s use of the Internet.

Use of the Internet is a privilege, not a right. The Library is an inappropriate place to view pornographic materials. Internet users displaying information unsuitable for viewing in the Library may have Internet access restricted in the future.

The McCall Public Library does not endorse the viewpoints or vouch for the accuracy or authenticity of electronic information. Not all the information available via the Internet is accurate, current, or complete. Users are encouraged to exercise critical judgment in evaluating the validity of information accessed via the Internet. The Library assumes no responsibility for any damages, direct or indirect, arising from its connection to the Internet.

Users shall not deliberately or will fully cause damage to computer equipment, programs, or parameters, create or distribute computer viruses, or load software on the library machines.
