McCall City Council received a resignation letter from Thom Sowers on November 5, 2020, citing unforeseen circumstances preventing his ability to remain a resident within the city limits, following, the City of McCall Mayor and Council will now accept applications to fill an at-large vacancy on the City Council.
The term of office for this appointment will be from the date of appointment until the second Thursday in January 2022, whereupon the position will then be filled by whomever is elected in the November 2021 municipal election for this Council seat.
The selected individual will be expected to participate in no less than three regularly scheduled City Council meetings a month and Special Meetings as needed during this appointment. Those interested in being appointed to fill the vacancy must meet the Requirements for Office outlined below and shall submit a completed application signed in the presence of the City of McCall City Clerk or their designee no later than 5:00 p.m., November 23, 2020.
Applicants for office will be interviewed by the Mayor and City Council in a special City Council meeting to be held at 5:30 p.m. on December 2, 2020, at the McCall City Hall, Lower Level, 216 East Park Street, McCall, ID and virtual via MS Teams. The Mayor and Council will then select an applicant to fill the vacancy.
Requirements for Office:
Must be at least 18 years of age, a United States citizen
Must be a qualified elector and registered voter of City of McCall at time of application;
Must have resided within the boundaries of the City of McCall for at least thirty (30) consecutive days immediately preceding the date of appointment;
