Phase 1B will be starting as we enter Spring and Phase 2A in mid Summer. This next portion of the multi-year streets project will concentrate on the surface improvements of 2nd Street, Lenora Street, Park Street and Veterans Alley. Teams will build new roadway surfaces, improved sidewalks, and redesigned on-street parking that better uses space. Though some have shown concern, the downtown core will be losing just eight spaces once the project is completed, giving the public access to 110 spaces of improved parking .
Restoring McCall’s Downtown is an important economic catalyst for attracting new businesses, residents, and visitors to McCall. Having a unique Downtown character is an undeniable economic asset. Research shows that a healthy and vibrant Downtown boosts the economic well-being and quality of life in a community. The current dilapidated condition of Downtown McCall roads displays the need to rebuild. The Streets Local Option Tax passed by voters in 2015 has provided a financial solution to restore this important reflection of McCall’s overall character.
Follow our downtown project page to stay up to date on the timeline and overview. Business access will remain open during construction but we ask the public to prepare for extra time to reach their destination and encourage use of neighboring public parking lots. Signs will be posted directing car and foot traffic but please use caution in the area. Construction zones are never a safe place to roam or drive.More: City News
